Guild Hall

Twelve Courses · Open to All · Nothing Assumed
📖
The Doors Are Open

Twelve crafts. Twelve courses. Each one starts from a single fact plain enough for a child to hold, and then refuses to move on until that fact has been made to explain the next thing, and the next, all the way up.

No equations. No homework. Nothing assumed — every word is defined before it is used. These are not lists of tips. A tip tells you what to do; these tell you why, and once you have the why you can work out the what on your own — including for the situations nobody ever wrote a tip for.

There is no order to these. No course depends on another and no guild outranks another — each is its own Course One. Walk into whichever hall you are curious about today.

The Guild of Makers
Thread, Hide, Dye & Gem

Minerals are the ingredients. A rock is a recipe that was actually cooked — and it still carries the record of the conditions that made it.

The Guild of the Line
Line & Net — The Art of Fishing
A fish is a machine for spending as little energy as it can. Where it sits is not a mood — it is a decision it is forced to make.

🌿
The Guild of Green
Root & Remedy — The Art of the Herbalist
The dose makes the poison. A medicinal plant is one whose defences happen to do something interesting inside a human body.

🧱
The Guild of the Chisel
Level & Course — The Art of Stone
Stone is strong when pushed and weak when pulled. Every arch, dome and wall ever raised is an answer to that one sentence.

The Guild of Ferment
Must & Patience
You are not a cook here — you are a stockman. Yeast is livestock, and alcohol is what it leaves behind.

The Guild of Scales
Weight & Word — The Art of the Merchant
Price is not value. Price is the place where two different values meet — which is why nobody has to lose.

The Guild Creed

Every day, whatever else:

  • 🧠 Sharpen your mind. Read something difficult.
  • ⚔️ Sharpen your blades. Know your tools.
  • 🏃 Do a little physical work. Move with intention.
  • 🌙 Sleep when needed. Recovery is not weakness.
  • ⚖️ Everything in moderation. No excess in any one direction.

Every course here is written to be read in full, by anyone — no account, no prior knowledge, no catch. ships with the fire course because the two belong together, not because the course is locked behind it.
